CIEMAT – CENTRO DE INVESTIGACIONES ENERGETICAS, MEDIOAMBIENTALES Y TECNOLOGICAS

DESCRIPTION

CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas) is a public research body focusing on energy and environment and the technologies related to them. The main lines of action are the study, development, promotion and optimisation of various sources as: renewable energies, nuclear fusion, nuclear fission and fossil fuels; the study of their impact on the environment, development of new technologies; not forgetting areas of basic research such as high-energy physics and molecular and cellular biology.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

Our contribution is related to experimental methods of characterization in different tasks: Advance characterization of MEAs by FIB, SEM/EDX, TEM and optical microscopy. Localised mechanical properties of MEAs by small punch test, Basic electrochemical testing of catalysts using conventional techniques, single cell PEMFC testing, catalyst layers preparation methods: electrospray, airbrushing (CCM and CCGDL) and analytical models for diffusive processes over catalyst surface (surface diffusion). Development of transport impedance using current modulated H2 flow rate spectroscopy (CH2S), new local reaction environment and catalyst layer structure from electrospray deposition. Besides will be performed analytical model for Surface Diffusion transport around catalyst particles with application to ORR. On the other side, CIEMAT will lead the development of the data management strategy, cloud communication, meta-data definitions and FAIR adoption, will design analytics models based on correlations in characterization data (WP3) and will communicate to experimental facilities and draft guidelines for DECODE network connection.
