HZB – HELMHOLTZ-ZENTRUM BERLIN FUR MATERIALIEN UND ENERGIE GMBH
DESCRIPTION
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) is a German research center within the Helmholtz Association. Specializing in materials research, the HZB operates the BESSY II synchrotron source, and offers state-of-the-art characterization capabilities. We, the imaging group focuses on multi-scale characterization and advanced analysis of energy conversion materials.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
In the DECODE project, our pivotal role as a research performer spans materials science expertise, employing synchrotron radiation, neutron imaging, and FIB tomography with AI tools. We contribute to semi-automated material characterization, improved data infrastructure, and understanding porous media transport. Our tasks include conducting structural characterization, characterizing MEAs, developing method assessment frameworks, analyzing liquid saturation, and developing imaging data models. Our commitment extends to ensuring metadata compatibility and building collaboration networks, emphasizing a holistic approach for impactful contributions and innovation across the project's research and technology domains.
